Wisconsin Driven
My priorities have been shaped by Wisconsin values, my experiences, and the people I've met while travelling the state.
My Priorities When Elected
-
We have seen unprecedented attempts in recent years to try to overturn the will of the voters, but as it says in the Governor’s conference room “the will of the people is the law of the land”. As Secretary, I will advocate for free and fair elections at every level and ensure that the non-partisan elections commission has the resources they need to run our elections smoothly. I will also work to promote civic engagement not just during elections but in our system of government as well. Just as I have done my entire life.
From advocating and securing an absentee ballot box at UW-Stevens Point, to leading a strong Get out the Vote drive during a once in a generation pandemic, and promoting other non-partisan efforts to ensure that everyone can make their voice heard.

Through blanket partisan games and political moves over the years the role of the Secretary of State has been stripped of a lot of the powers originally intended. We must work to ensure that the role of the Secretary can be as a check and a balance but also will have the autonomy to be able to serve the people of Wisconsin.
The gridlock formed in the role by the previous gubernatorial administration and legislature was unheard of but we have a chance to rebuild these constitutional offices when we win the trifecta next year!

As the office that oversees the state’s records the office needs to be able to not only keep up with the demand but meet the needs of the 21st century digital age. If someone in Rhinelander needs a document verified they should not have to drive to the state capitol building to be able to do that.
We are now almost 26 years into the 21st century. It is time to ensure that our government is able to meet people where they are at and not get bogged down in unnecessary systems that are outdated.
